With a strong performance and shooting the course record in the final round, both players from the Netherlands claim their first Tulip Golf Challenge title.
Sjors Den Ambtman, player from The Dutch, was on fire during his final round. He made six birdies and one bogey on the front nine, followed by two birdies and three bogeys on the back nine. With shooting a 68 (-4) he not only claim the title in the boys category with a six stroke advantage but he also equaled Joost Luiten’s course record on the Drentsche Golf & Country Club. ‘I am so happy finishing my season with this win’ Den Ambtman says. ‘In the beginning of the season I really struggled but I stayed focussed and worked really hard, all leading to this win.’
In the girls category Anne-Sterre Den Dunnen led the field from day one. With setting a course record 67 (-5) in her final round she made clear why only she could claim the title. ‘I am very happy with this win on this beautiful golf course’ says the player from Golfclub Houtrak. ‘The course was in a great shape and I would like to thank the course and the tournament organisation in their contribution in making the strong event possible.’
‘We are looking back on a fantastic fourth edition of the Tulip Golf Challenge’ says Henk van Dijken, one of the Tournament Directors and owner of Pro Golf Events. ‘Although the weather predictions were quite bad for this week, we came away with it, only having a twenty minute shower on Friday’ he continues. ‘Many thanks to the Drentsche Golf & Country Club and it’s greenkeepers, referees and volunteers. Without them and the great support of the sponsors, this tournament would not be such a success.’
The fourth edition of the Tulip Golf Challenge is organized by Pro Golf Events at the Drentsche Golf & Country Club and is part of the Global Junior Golf Tour and Global Junior Golf 21golfleague. Results count towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), NGF ranking, Junior Golf Scoreboard and European Golf Rankings.
